KATHMANDU, July 8: In response to the devastating flood in Rasuwa, the Central Security Committee and the Executive Committee of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) are set to hold an emergency meeting today at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA).
The MoHA announced that the meeting will focus on assessing the damage caused by the flood, as well as coordinating efforts for search, rescue, relief, and reconstruction.
Flood wreaks havoc in Sindupalchowk
As per the District Police Office (DPO), Rasuwa, 16 individuals have gone missing while nine have been rescued after a flood struck the Bhotekoshi River area on Tuesday morning. Among the missing are three Nepal Police personnel, three drivers, six Nepali workers, and four Chinese workers. The rescued individuals were trapped inside the yard of the Rasuwa customs office.
The flood, triggered by the incessant rainfall in China, also swept away the Miteri Bridge located at the Nepal–China border.
Additionally, the flood also damaged several key infrastructures including charging stations, the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, and customs facilities.
Several cargo containers and electric vehicles parked at the customs yard were also swept away as reported by the DPO, Rusuwa.
