DHANKUTA, Sept 20: One person died and 10 others were injured when a passenger jeep crashed in Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-3 of Dhankuta on Sunday.
The jeep, which was traveling from Kajimane toward Dhankuta, crashed at Kajimane in Banchare after its brakes reportedly failed. The vehicle, Na 1 Ja 2494, fell about 50 meters off the road.
One dead, 14 injured in Dhankuta bus accident
Police identified the deceased as approximately 60-year-old Shokmaya Limbu of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-3. She died at the scene.
Following the accident, a police team led by Inspector Ram Prasad Khanal was deployed after the District Police Office, Dhankuta, received information about the incident. The team sent the injured to Dhankuta District Hospital for treatment.
Police said efforts were underway to recover the damaged Sumo and that they were investigating the accident.
