KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The MIT Foundation is set to provide Rs 578.5 million to support the education, health and nutrition of children who lost their parents in the Bhotekoshi floods.
The foundation and the National Child Rights Council signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation at a program held in Kathmandu on Friday. The MoU was signed by Council Secretary Durga Prasad Chalise and MIT Foundation Chair Shesh Ghale.

Under the agreement, flood-affected children below 18 years of age will be provided with a safe family environment along with education, healthcare, nutrition and psychosocial support.
The agreement prioritizes care by relatives, while institutional care will be considered only as a last resort.
The support will continue from the date of signing until the targeted children reach 18 years of age.
The Council will facilitate the identification of beneficiaries, coordination and child protection, while the MIT Foundation will provide financial and technical support.
