By No Author
Birgunj, March 18: Normal life in Birgunj remained partially affected on Monday, owing to the Parsa banda or shutdown organized at the call of Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party.

The party cadres took to streets carrying wooden sticks and party flags since early morning to enforce the banda.

Main market areas in the town were closed, owing to the shutdown. Only a few vehicles were seen plying on the road. However, industries, factories, schools and government offices remained open during the banda.

The party had announced the banda in protest of the arrest of party leaders and cadres by the police following a clash taken place between two groups at local Ghantaghar recently. The police have registered a case of public offence against the arrestees.

According to the District Police Office Parsa, three banda organizers have been arrested from the market area.
