Bihabar Tourism Festival in Kavre from April 28

KATHMANDU, April 5: Kushadevi Area Development Committee is organizing Bihabar Tourism Festival on April 28-30 for promotion of tourism activities in Bihabar area of Kavre district.

KATHMANDU, April 5: Kushadevi Area Development Committee is organizing Bihabar Tourism Festival on April 28-30 for promotion of tourism activities in Bihabar area of Kavre district.


The three-day festival is being organized in association with Panauti Municipality to promote historical, cultural and other attractions of Bihabar area.

Bihabar covers areas from Lattha Bhanjyang of Mahalaxmi Municipality of Lalitpur district to Panauti area of Kavre.


Purushottam Adhikary, secretary of the committee, told Republica that this is the first time that local people have taken initiative to organize this type of event for promotion of tourism in Bihabar area. "This festival will promote several tourism attractions of Bihabar area," Adhikary told Republica. 


As adventure sports like paragliding, cycling and marathon will also be organized on the sidelines of the festival, locals are hopeful that the festival will also attract foreign tourists, says Adhikary. “Paragliding will be operated for all three days. Cycling and marathon will be organized one time during the festival,” he added.


The organizers are hopeful that the festival will help to promote cultural, historical and nature-based tourism in Bihabar area as well as other parts of Kavre district, and also bring tourists to the area.


Phulchowki, Nagidanda, Gurdumdanda, Khanidanda, Ranikot and Paanchkanya are some of the attractions in Bihabar area for both domestic and international tourists. Adhikary further added that hiking trail and cycling track have already been built in most of the places of Phulchowki and Mahabharat region. “In other areas, we are gradually building hiking and cycling trail,” he added.
