KAVRE / DHADING April 15: Two persons in Kavre district and one in Dhading, all of whom returned from abroad recently, have tested positive for COVID-19 in rapid diagnostic tests (RDT).
The two testing positive in Kavre district are locals of Bethanchwok Rural Municipality and Mandandeupur Municipality.
According to the health division chief at Bethanchowk Rural Municipality–5, Sitaram Timilsina, they had come from India on March 22. "We had tested samples of four people on April 12 and 13 and of nine others on April 14. Among those tested, one test came out positive," he said. "He is 28 and returned from India recently," Timilsina added.
Trace and test
The man has been admitted to Dhulikhel Hospital. As per the records, a total of 20 people from different countries have come to the municipality in the last one month.
The person from Mandandeupur Municipality who tested positive had returned from Dubai on March 20. Following the recent test, the 23-year-old has also been admitted at Dhulikhel Hospital.
He had earlier been quarantined for 17 days. But when no COVID-19 symptoms were seen in him, he had left for home.
Similarly, the man who tested positive in Dhading had come back from South Korea after a month's stay there. Associated with the Universal Peace Federation located at Hetauda, he had gone to his office directly after landing in Kathmandu on March 3. On March 16 he had returned to his home in Dhading. According to DSP Rabindra Regmi, the man told police that he went into quarantine after returning from abroad. "He said that he went to South Korea on official work and was in quarantine after coming back," Regmi said.
Meanwhile, Dr Bhuwan Poudel, chief of Dhading Community Health Office, said that tests done through RDT have to be re-confirmed. "We have sent the sample to Teku and the result will come soon," he said.
