"I am hopeful that the current deadlock will be resolved within a week," said Yadav while addressing fourth national AIDS conference in Pokhara. [break]The president on Thursday had extended the deadline by one week to choose a prime minister agreeable to all political parties.
Stating that it was his responsibility to urge political parties to forge consensus, the president said that he had begged in front of parties on many occasion. "I have begged the political parties time and again to reach a consensus," Yadav added.

He maintained that political parties should not delay in picking a consensual prime ministerial candidate as the government has already announced holding of a new Constituent Assembly (CA) elections by mid-April to mid-May.
"If all parties arrive at consensus, elections for new CA can be held by mid-April to mid-May; otherwise it will be very difficult," Yadav said.
The president said that the fear of losing the achievements of Nepal as a republic worried him.
"What I wish to see in the country is national and social unity," said Yadav. "Even foreign countries who had welcomed the political changes in Nepal are now concerned whether parties will be able to institutionalize the changes," the president said.
