KATHMANDU, Jan 16: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the lives of UML leaders remain under threat even today.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday, Oli said threats and acts of violence against party leaders have not stopped.

“Even today, lives are at risk. They keep saying they will file cases today or tomorrow. They are still setting houses on fire after tracking people down. Is this an easy situation?” Oli said. “They did not just threaten to burn houses because it was UML — they actually did it. Even now, it is not easy.”

He added that those involved in acts such as arson and attempts to topple the government are moving around openly and with pride.

Oli said that, as in the past, the party’s leadership continues to be guided by a spirit of sacrifice. “There was a sense of sacrifice yesterday, and there is one today as well. Without sacrifice, the world cannot be changed,” he said, adding that hard work, dedication, sacrifice, integrity, and commitment to ideals and objectives remain essential.
