Gold prices fell sharply in the domestic market on Friday, with the price of fine gold dropping by Rs 3,100 per tola.

According to Nepal Police, vehicular movement has been disrupted after landslides, soil erosion and debris triggered by torrential rain blocked roads in different parts of the country.

As per the government's decision, electricity consumption up to the first 50 units remains exempt from VAT. The 5 percent VAT applies only to the electricity charges for consumption beyond that threshold.

While higher taxes on luxury goods and services are generally seen as reasonable, imposing levies on private school fees, treatment at private hospitals and electricity consumption is likely to increase monthly expenses for middle-class households. 

The Division stated that the weather is generally cloudy across the country at present. 

The Department of Money Laundering Investigation filed the charge sheet against six persons, including political leader Paudel and 10 companies. 

The Cabinet approved an amendment to the schedule of the Act, restoring the facility that had previously been withdrawn. The proposal to amend the schedule was submitted by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Reducing 60,000 government jobs may shrink the bureaucracy on paper, but without transparent recruitment, legal safeguards and institutional reform, it is unlikely to improve governance.
