KASKI, Jan 16: Authorities have extended the deadline by two days for submitting applications for election police deployment in Kaski, Baglung, Mustang, and adjoining districts for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
The Election Police Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment Committee, Kaski, said the deadline has been extended until Saturday due to a lower-than-expected number of applications. Applications were initially invited starting January 9.
According to the committee’s member-secretary, Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) Chitrangat Baral, a total of 2,303 election police personnel will be deployed in Kaski district alone. Applicants can submit their applications at the District Police Office or the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 24 Kalika Battalion.

Priority will be given to retired personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, former forest guards, individuals who previously served as temporary police personnel, and Nepali citizens retired from security agencies of friendly foreign countries.
Eligible applicants must be between 18 and 54 years of age and able to read and write basic Nepali. The selection process will take place from January 19 to 24, with results to be published on January 26. Selected candidates will receive training from January 29 to February 7.
The term of service for election police has been fixed at 40 days. Each personnel will receive Rs 34,776 for the 40-day period, along with allowances for food and uniforms, a preparation allowance of Rs 846, and Rs 1,200 for four days of meal expenses.
The recruitment, selection, and appointment process will be conducted under the coordination of the CDO. The District Administration Office said preparations are underway to ensure strong and effective security arrangements for the election.
Meanwhile, the office has urged individuals or groups possessing illegal firearms to surrender them at the nearest police office by January 29 to help ensure the HoR election is conducted in a free, fair, credible, and fear-free environment. Authorities warned that failure to comply within the stipulated deadline will invite legal action under prevailing laws.
