KATHMANDU, May 12: Scotland have set a 244-run target for Nepal in the ICC World Cup League 2 match at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Scotland posted 243 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted overs.
Openers George Munsey and Finlay McCreath gave Scotland a flying start with a 114-run partnership. However, Nepal turned the game around in the 21st over when both batters were dismissed by Sandeep Lamichhane, who broke the opening stand in quick succession. Munsey scored 75 while McCreath made 35.

Sandeep then triggered a collapse, as Scotland lost four wickets for just 14 runs after reaching 114. He took all the first four wickets to fall, delivering a tight spell of bowling and conceding only 41 runs, including a maiden over.
Karan KC also made key breakthroughs, dismissing Mark Watt for 24 runs, caught by wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari, and Matthew Cross for 18.
Michael English remained unbeaten on 34, while Michael Leask contributed 29 before being bowled by Nandan Yadav. On the final ball of the innings, Nandan removed Jack Jarvis for a duck.
Nepal used seven bowlers in total. Sandeep claimed four wickets, while Karan and Nandan took two wickets each.
In the ongoing eight-team League 2 series, this is Nepal’s seventh match and Scotland’s eighth. The United States leads the table with 36 points from 24 matches, followed by Scotland with 34 points from 28 matches. Nepal remain seventh with 18 points from 24 matches. A couple of wins from their remaining four matches could see Nepal climb at least two places in the standings.
