UML decides to further strengthen trust and understanding with NC

The ongoing Central Committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML concluded on Tuesday, passing a 14-point resolution addressing current political as well as other issues.

KATHMANDU, Jan 8:  The ongoing Central Committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML concluded on Tuesday, passing a 14-point resolution addressing current political as well as other issues.


The UML stated that the formation of a coalition government comprising the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress (NC) has raised hopes for political stability in the country. The government was established with the primary objectives of safeguarding national interests, ensuring political stability, driving economic dynamism, promoting good governance and advancing development and prosperity.

The UML further underscored the importance of strengthening mutual trust and understanding among the ruling parties. The party also called on the government to make the most of this historic opportunity to revitalize the economy, ensure good governance, accelerate development, and solidify political stability. 


The 14-point proposal endorsed by the CC meeting states that people have high expectations from this government, which was formed with the participation of seven political parties under the leadership of the main political forces. The government bears a historic responsibility to lay a strong foundation for achieving the aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity as envisioned by the Constitution of Nepal, read the proposal. 


The meeting decided to take measures to stop mass youth exodus from the country and take stringent measures to control corruption, while ensuring that the party rank is not involved in any kinds of corruption cases. The meeting also decided to urge the party leadership to bring amendments to the constitution through broader political understanding and participation to suit the need of the time.


The party also decided to take necessary measures to contain the spread of misinformation, disinformation and fake news while ensuring that such measures do not infringe upon the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech. Among other things, the meeting also decided to urge the party leadership and the government to release the second installment of the compensation provided by the government to the earthquake affected people in Rukum and Jajarkot districts last year.
