KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Two individuals have been arrested on charges of impersonating officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and extorting money, according to police.
The suspects have been identified as Rabin Koirala (41) of Mithila Municipality-9, Dhanusha, and Yogendra Paudel (33) of Mahalaxmi Municipality-7, Dhankuta. They allegedly intimidated two people dining at a hotel in Koteshwor on the night of November 2 and forcibly extorted money.

A team from the New Baneshwor Police Circle apprehended the two, and Kathmandu District Court has granted police a three-day remand to conduct further investigation.
Police said the duo threatened the victims by claiming to be CIB officers and forced them to transfer Rs 50,000 each via eSewa. They also seized an additional Rs 6,000 in cash from the victims.
Authorities recovered 11 passports, 13 ID cards, four official seals of various offices, three ATM cards, and 11 bundles of cash receipts from their possession.
