KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Six people have died in floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in different parts of the country over the past three days.
The disasters, which began on September 24 (Asoj 8), have claimed six lives across four provinces, while 407 people have been rescued safely.
Floods and landslides kill 70 in Province 1
According to Nepal Police Headquarters, two people died in Bagmati Province, two in Lumbini Province, and one each in the Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
Two other people were injured in disaster-related incidents. They were rescued and taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, authorities have stepped up efforts to move people living in areas exposed to floods and landslides to safer locations.
Police said 407 people have so far been rescued and moved to safe places through coordination among local governments, various agencies and local communities.
Efforts are continuing to relocate families from high-risk settlements and recover property buried under landslides, police said.
