MANANG, Sept 27: An avalanche has occurred on Mt Himlung in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5, Manang.
Casualties are feared as a result of the avalanche. Chief District Officer Mukti Prasad Khanal said twelve people out of a group of 22 (nine mountaineers and 13 support staff) who had gone for the expedition are suspected to be missing. The entire group had traveled there to prepare for the expedition.

CDO Khanal reported that although a helicopter arrived in Manang from Kathmandu for rescue operations, it had to return without landing due to adverse weather conditions. He added that precise details regarding the extent of the damage caused by the avalanche are not yet available.
Meanwhile, the Ghatte Khola (stream) has been blocked following a landslide at the Mt Lamjung base camp.
The landslide blocked the Ghatte Khola in Chame Rural Municipality-4.and as a result residents of Wards 3, 4, and 5 of Chame Rural Municipality have been relocated to the premises of the Nepali Army barrack.
