Deep overcame second seeded Purushottam Bajracharya of APF Club 4-2 in the men's singles final played under best of seven rounds. In the thrilling final, Deep took first set 11-9 but went down in the second set 3-11. However, he fought back winning the third set 11-4 and took very next set 12-10 to make it 3-1. But Purushottam claimed fifth set 11-2 to remain in the game. However, Deep was lucky to win sixth set 15-13 to clinch the title despite failing to score winning point for three occasions. Deep had defeated Purushottam in the Sixth National Games to claim top position for the first time.
In women's singles final encounter, Nabita beat her own club opponent as well as sister-in-law Alina Maharjan in straight sets. Nabita claimed first set 11-4 and maintained the same spirit in the second set winning it by 11-6. However, she struggled in the third set to claim it 12-10 and won very next set 11-4 to make it 4-0.
Nabita had become national champion for the first time winning the same tournament in 2010. Deep and Nabita both bagged Rs 21,000 as first prize.
Meanwhile, the pair of Deep and Amar Lal Malla won men's doubles title beating pair of Shiva Sundar and Chandan Shahi of APF 14-4, 12-10, 8-11 and 11-9.
