KATHMANDU, Nov 15: The air pollution level in Kathmandu has shown improvement on Friday following a disastrous week where the capital was ranked up to sixth most polluted city in the world.
According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), Kathmandu has fallen to the eighth most polluted city in the world. As per the Index, Nepal’s air pollution has been measured at 165 AQI on Friday. On Thursday, Kathmandu was ranked as the sixth most polluted city in the world, with pollution levels measured at 170 AQI.
Kathmandu slightly up in global air quality ranking
As of 10:45 am on Friday, the AQI of Patan has been recorded at 177 AQI, the AQI of Kathmandu at 160 and the AQI of Bhaktapur at 158 AQI.
Lahore in Pakistan holds the top position as the most polluted city in the world, with the pollution measured at 780 AQI.
Similarly, three cities of the neighboring country India are among the 10 most polluted cities in the world. According to AQI, India’s Delhi holds the second position, with pollution levels measured at 749 AQI. Similarly, India’s Kolkata holds the fifth position, with pollution levels measured at 181 AOI and Mumbai has been listed at the tenth position with 157 AQI.
