Carry navigation tools: Make sure to bring a map, compass or GPS for your hiking trip. You’ll want to know where you are and where you’re heading to at all time as well as to know where all the campsites, emergency exits, water sources and rest areas are located. It is most crucial you so as to plan other details better and enjoy the hike without worrying about getting lost.

Adequate water and food: Water is perhaps the most important item on your hiking for hydration. Make sure to hydrate before the hiking trip and sip water throughout the day. Whether it is cold or hot outside, an adequate water supply should always be a priority. You also want to have sufficient calories to keep you going with your full stomach. Bring along extra snacks so you and your hiking companions can enjoy long moments amid the hike.



First-Aid kit: You will need a personalized first-aid kit, which includes blister treatment, bandages, tape, antibiotic ointment, gauze pads and any medications that you or your companions may need through the journey.

Multi-Purpose tool or Swiss army knife/ Knife: Another hiking must-have is a knife, Swiss knife or multi-purpose tool. You never know when you might need to cut fabric to make bandages or even just open a stubborn package of trail mix or cut down cords/ropes. A knife can also come in handy if you need to make a fire.



Include bug spray and insect repellent: Insects like ticks, bees, spiders and mosquitoes are some of the insects you might encounter along way your hike. You can use insect repellent. You also have to make sure to reapply it frequently.
