BARDIYA, March 29: The Bardiya district chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) organized a memorial meeting on Saturday to mourn the demise of Avenues Television journalist Suresh Rajak, who passed away while covering the pro-monarchy protest on Friday.
The FNJ held the condolence gathering on Saturday morning at Radhakrishna Chowk in Gulariya Municipality-6 and strongly condemned the incident.
Expressing sorrow over the journalist's death, the Bardiya chapter President Nirmal Ghimire said, “The loss of a journalist on duty has deeply saddened us. We also strongly condemn the attack on the media office.”

He emphasized that the incident clearly exposed the lack of safety for journalists. “We inform the public without considering our own safety. We have to work in unsafe conditions. Where is the state’s protection for us journalists?” Ghimire asked.
FNJ Morang branch holds march protest
The Morang district chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, also organized a march to protest the murder of a journalist and the arson at a media house by pro-monarchy protesters.
On Friday, Morang journalists protested against the murder of journalist Suresh Rajak, who was killed during a pro-monarchy rally in Tinkune.
Journalists across the country, including those in Kathmandu, have opposed the murder and the targeted attack on media houses.
They have demanded that authorities take legal action against the perpetrator, guarantee the safety of journalists, and immediately halt the anarchy in the name of protests.
