Nepal started observing International Women’s Day 34 years ago, commemorating a significant occasion that underscores the united commitment to human rights and the ongoing pursuit of gender parity. The theme for Women's Day this year (March 8) is "Invest in women: Accelerate progress," complemented by the campaign theme, "Inspire Inclusion”. In celebration of the 34th International Women’s Day in Nepal, Republica has curated a collection of 34 inspiring stories showcasing unwavering courage, resilience, and empowerment of women below the age of 34. These stories are not merely personal; they wield a profound impact, shaping the lives of those who share them. They unfold as tales of courage, resilience, and empowerment.
Preeti Khatri, 33, a native of Patan, Lalitpur, is a trailblazer in adventure tourism, particularly through her role as the director of Nepal Trail Series. Beyond this title, she is celebrated among Nepali and international runners for her successful organization of trail races, earning her the reputation as an adventure zone promoter.

Despite completing her primary education in Kathmandu and pursuing schooling in India, Khatri’s true passion lies in promoting adventure sports in her homeland. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering, she briefly worked in India but felt compelled to return to Nepal and make a meaningful contribution to her country.
In 2016, Khatri embarked on her adventure sports journey with her first trail race in Godavari, completing it in an impressive nine and a half hours. Subsequent races, like the Manaslu Trail Race and Mustang Trail Race, provided invaluable learning experiences, refining her skills in organizing adventure games in challenging mountainous terrains.
In 2019, Khatri established the 'Nepal Trail Series Company,' dedicated to organizing trail races in scenic locations like Bhojpur, Rukum, Rara, and Humla. Beyond serving Nepali runners, the Nepal Trail Series showcases Nepal's breathtaking landscapes and offers thrilling adventure experiences to attract foreign tourists.
With her innovative approach to adventure tourism, Khatri is not only promoting Nepal as a destination for adventure enthusiasts but also contributing to the economic growth of local communities through tourism.
