Nepal Police bags PM Cup Cricket title

Nepal Police Club won the title of the Prime Minister's Cup Men's National Cricket Tournament. In today's final, Police defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by six wickets.

BHAIRAHAWA (RUPANDHI), March 29: Nepal Police Club won the title of the Prime Minister's Cup Men's National Cricket Tournament. In today's final, Police defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by six wickets.


Chasing a target of 155 runs, Police completed the chase in 25.2 overs, losing four wickets. Opener Kushal Bhurtel scored 61 runs off 70 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Amit Shrestha contributed 39 runs, and Dilip Nath remained unbeaten on 31 runs.

For the Army, Shahab Alam took three wickets, and Naren Saud took one.


At the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium in Bhairahawa, after losing the toss, the Army batted first and scored 154 runs, losing all their wickets in 43 overs. The Army lost five wickets for just 25 runs, but Captain Binod Bhandari and Basir Ahmed formed a 75-run partnership. Basir Ahmed scored 86 runs from 104 balls, hitting nine fours and one six, while Captain Binod Bhandari contributed 29 runs. Bibek Yadav added 11 runs, but no other batsman reached double digits.


In dismissing the Army cheaply, Nepal Police's Karan KC took three wickets for 30 runs in seven overs, including one maiden. Sagar Dhakal claimed three wickets for 29 runs in eight overs, while Captain Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets. Lalit Rajbansi and Gulshan Jha each took one wicket.


This year's Prime Minister's Cup Men's National Cricket Tournament featured 46 matches, all held outside Kathmandu for the first time. Matches took place at the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium in Rupandehi, the Extratech Oval Cricket Stadium in Tilottama, and the Deukhuri International Stadium in Lamahi, Dang. Teams from all seven provinces, along with the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police's departmental teams, participated in the tournament, totaling 10 teams.
