KATHMANDU, March 29: The Korea Tours and Training Operator Association of Nepal (KOTTAN) marked its 7th anniversary with a grand celebration at the "KOTAN Night" event.
The event organized in the capital on Thursday saw the participation of KOTTAN officials, representatives from the South Korean Embassy, KOICA, EPS, Nepal Tourism Board, Hotel Association and various tourism-related organizations, along with hundreds of attendees.

Speaking at the event, KOTTAN President Amar Bahadur Shahi highlighted the organization’s key objective of providing safe trekking experiences for South Korean visitors and expanding their numbers in the coming years. He also extended sincere gratitude to the South Korean Embassy for its unwavering support since KOTTAN’s establishment.
Addressing the gathering, South Korean Ambassador Park Tae-Young, who attended the event as chief guest, commended KOTTAN’s significant contributions in attracting Korean tourists to Nepal and reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to further boosting tourism ties between the two nations. He emphasized that tourism is a vital source of revenue for Nepal and noted that approximately 5 million South Koreans engage in trekking activities in their homeland every week. If just 2% of them were to visit Nepal, the country could welcome at least 100,000 Korean tourists annually.
The ambassador also expressed the embassy’s readiness to strengthen its collaboration with KOTTAN to further enhance Nepal’s tourism industry.
During the event, KOTTAN signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HAMS Hospital to ensure immediate and accessible medical treatment for Korean tourists in case of emergencies. This initiative is expected to contribute to a safer and more comfortable travel experience for Korean visitors in Nepal.
Additionally, stakeholders announced plans to launch promotional campaigns in Korea to attract more South Korean tourists to Nepal, further strengthening the tourism partnership between the two countries.
