BUTWAL, June 8: The Butwal-Palpa section of the Siddhartha highway has become obstructed this morning.
The highway section has been blocked due to the deposition of landslide debris on the road near Siddhababa temple on the border between Rupandehi and Palpa districts and due to the occurrence of mudslide near Madanpokhara, following incessant rains since last night, the West Region Traffic Police Office, Butwal, said.
East-West highway and Siddhartha highway obstructed
Vehicles heading to various destinations in Palpa, Syangja, Pokhara, Gulmi and Arghakhanci districts north of Butwal have been stranded due to the obstruction of the highway.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghuveer Mahaseth a few days back had carried out on-site inspection of the section of the road which has been frequently blocked due to the occurrence of landslides and instructed the bodies concerned to solve the problem at the earliest.
A person was killed after being buried by landslide and the road section has remained obstructed for more than about a week due to the occurrence of landslide on that stretch of the highway thrice this year alone. RSS
