KATHMANDU, July 25: In solemn tribute to the 18 lives lost in Wednesday's Saurya Airlines plane crash, the government has decreed that the national flag will be flown at half-mast today.
In response to the tragedy, a 5-member probe commission has been established to investigate the incident. The commission will be led by Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

The commission, chaired by Karna, is tasked with delivering its report and recommendations within 45 days, with the aim of preventing similar accidents in the future.
In a bid to enhance aviation safety, all domestic airlines have committed to conducting mandatory aircraft inspections. Concurrently, CAAN will intensify its oversight to strengthen safety protocols across the industry.
