Ruling coalition fails to agree on allocation of seats among parties

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The five-party ruling coalition has again failed to agree on the distribution of seats for the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections to be held on November 20.

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: The five-party ruling coalition has again failed to agree on the distribution of seats for the upcoming House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections to be held on November 20. 


The meeting of the senior leaders of the coalition held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday held intensive discussion on the matter. But the consensus among parties on the allocation of seats could not be reached, according to leaders.

“Although there was serious discussion about the distribution of seats in the meeting of the top leaders of the alliance no conclusion could be reached,” said Secretary of the Rastriya Janamorcha party, Him Lal Puri. He also shared that the meeting will resume again at 11 AM today.


The five ruling parties have already agreed to forge electoral alliance in the upcoming federal and provincial assembly polls. Regular discussions are being held in meetings with top leaders to reach an agreement on the matter.
