KATHMANDU, July 27: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that in the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies, seats should be distributed among the ruling coalition parties on the basis of the seats won by them in the local level elections held last May and the popular votes they got in the elections.


In a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union, Parsa, today in Birgunj, Koirala said that the NC should not distribute seats in the upcoming elections as dictated by the CPN (Maoist Centre).

He said, 'It is necessary to empower the provinces to implement federalism and to promote the issue of distribution of residence rights to the meeting of the Chief Ministers' Commission under the leadership of the Prime Minister’.
