Five-party alliance mayoral candidate leading in Biratnagar metropolis

BIRATNAGAR, May 14: Mayor candidate of the ruling five-party alliance in Biratnagar Metropolitan City Nagesh Koirala is leading in the election race with 434 votes out of 1,200 votes counted so far.  Koirala’s nearest rival Sagar Thapa of the CPN-UML has received 316 votes so far.

BIRATNAGAR, May 14: Mayor candidate of the ruling five-party alliance in Biratnagar Metropolitan City Nagesh Koirala is leading in the election race with 434 votes out of 1,200 votes counted so far.  Koirala’s nearest rival Sagar Thapa of the CPN-UML has received 316 votes so far. 


For the post of Deputy Mayor, UML candidate is in the lead with 365 votes followed by alliance candidate Amarendra Yadav with 206 votes.

In the first phase, votes of wards 1, 2, 16, 17, 18 and 19 of Biratnagar metropolis are being counted. Of the total 133,142 registered voters, 89,678 votes were cast on Friday.
