BIRATNAGAR, May 17: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Nagesh Koirala has been leading the mayoral race in Biratnagar Metropolitan City since the start of the vote-counting. Similarly, CPN-UML candidate Shilpa Karki has been leading the local polls for the post of deputy-mayor.
As per the latest results of the ongoing vote counting, Koirala has taken a lead of 2,203 votes. He has received 8,470 votes so far, while his closest rival Sagar Kumar Thapa of the CPN-UML has received 6,247 votes. Likewise, independent candidate Umesh Kumar Yadav has received 2,261 votes while Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) candidate Prahal Prasad Shah has received 1,220 votes.
NC taking lead with 203 votes in Lalitpur Metropolis mayor
Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Kakri is leading with 7,111 votes in the contest for the post of deputy mayor. Karki’s closest rival Amarendra Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party has received 4,645 votes so far.
