AZERBAIJAN, Nov 12: President Ram Chandra Paudel will address the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) today.
Nepal is participating in the 'Climate Action Summit' under the leadership of President Paudel. At the invitation of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, President Paudel arrived in Baku on Monday to attend the summit. The summit (COP-29) began here on Monday.
COP-27: An implementation summit
Under the leadership of President Paudel, Nepal will hold a separate high-level session on Wednesday. The meeting, titled "Addressing Climate-related Loss and Damage in Mountainous Regions" will draw global attention to Nepal's agenda.
In the conference, on behalf of Nepal, the issues arising from climate change will be highlighted, and the summit will urge developed countries to reduce carbon emissions and fulfill their commitment by contributing the pledged amounts to the climate fund.
Additionally, Nepal is expected to emphasize its efforts to effectively present the challenges it faces due to climate change, as well as the commitments made and their implementation, on the global stage.
Leaders from around the world, including presidents or vice presidents from 40 countries and prime ministers from 35 countries, will participate in the conference for discussions and global cooperation. The theme of the conference is "New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG)."
