KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Office of the Prime Minister has blacklisted 18 construction companies, including Kanchharam Construction, which is associated with Nepali Congress leader and Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Purna Bahadur Tamang. Tamang, who was directly elected to the House of Representatives from Ramechhap, now faces a two-year and six-month ban on his company.
According to a notice issued by the PPMO, the blacklisting decision was made in compliance with Sub-section 1 of Section 63 of the Public Procurement Act, 2063, and will take effect from Friday. During the blacklisting period, these companies are prohibited from participating in any public procurement activities.
PPMO blacklists 33 construction companies
Additionally, the PPMO has blacklisted two other companies for two years, three companies for one and a half years, and six companies for one year. Notably, NB Construction, headed by Ramila Lama; The Kanchenjunga Construction, led by Tendi Sherpa; and Biruwa Construction, with Subit Shrestha as the principal figure, are among those blacklisted for two and a half years.
