KATHMANDU, Oct 2: A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC), a joint committee of both houses of the Federal Parliament, is underway at Singha Durbar.

The meeting is expected to hold a hearing on Prakashman Singh Raut, who has been recommended for the position of chief justice at the Supreme Court. Raut has also been summoned to the meeting for discussion.

The Constitutional Council meeting held on September 16 recommended Raut for chief justice and Sewa Lamsal and Chitralekha Yadav as ambassadors to Belgium and Australia, respectively.

In a meeting held on Tuesday, the PHC discussed complaints filed against the proposed chief justice and two ambassadorial candidates. A total of six complaints have been lodged against Raut, while one each has been filed against Lamsal and Yadav.
