PHC meeting underway for hearing on proposed Auditor General Toyam Raya

KATHMANDU, April 1: A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) is underway to proceed with the hearing process for the proposed Auditor General Toyam Raya. The meeting convened at around 10 AM.

During the meeting of the Constitutional Council on Sunday morning, Toyam Raya was recommended for the position of Auditor General. Raya, currently serving as the Chief Statistics Officer at the National Statistics Office, has previously held the position of Finance Secretary.


According to constitutional provisions, the appointment of the Auditor General requires approval from the parliamentary hearing process before being appointed by the President. The term of office for the Auditor General is 6 years.
