People stand in long queue to get first shot of Chinese -made COVID-19 vaccine  (photo feature)

KATHMANDU, April 26: A long queue was formed in front of Maternity Hospital in Thapathali and Alka Hospital on Monday afternoon as a number of people reached there to receive the first shot of China-made vaccine against COVID-19.

KATHMANDU, April 26: A long queue was formed in front of Maternity Hospital in Thapathali and Alka Hospital on Monday afternoon as a number of people reached there to receive the first shot of China-made vaccine against COVID-19. 


The government had decided to vaccinate people aged between 40 and 59 years with the ‘Vero Cell’ vaccine donated by the Chinese government earlier on April 1.

The Chinese government had provided 800,000 doses of ‘Vero Cell’ vaccines to Nepal. A Nepal Airlines widebody-330 aircraft brought the ‘Vero Cell’ vaccine from China on March 29. 


Nepal had granted a conditional emergency approval for use of Vero Cell, the coronavirus vaccine manufactured by China's Beijing Institute of Biological Products earlier on  February 18.
