MANTHALI, Oct 16: Over 1,000 foreign tourists en route to Lukla of Solukhumbu are stuck in Manthali for the past two days as adverse weather has disrupted flights to Lukla-based Tenzing-Hillary Airport.
According to the government authorities, there are almost 1,300 tourists stranded in Manthali. Some of them arrived in the district by flight and some by road.

The local authorities informed that some of them have already started heading towards Phaplu, the district headquarters of Solukhumbu, while some have booked helicopter flights to set out for Surke.
According to the Manthali-based office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), those tourists who had bought the tickets of Summit, Tara and Sita airlines flights have remained stranded in Manthali.
CAAN spokesperson for Manthali Airport, Prajwal Guragain said Manthali Airport sees operations of 55-60 flights a day in a tourist season. People arrive here in autumn for trekking towards the Sagarmatha base camp.
