Tara Air operates more than a dozen daily flights from Manthali to Lukla

MANTHALI, April 17: With the beginning of the tourist season, various airlines have been flying more than four dozen flights daily from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap to Lukla in Solukhumbu for tourists going to Mt Everest region.

MANTHALI, April 17: With the beginning of the tourist season, various airlines have been flying more than four dozen flights daily from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap to Lukla in Solukhumbu for tourists going to Mt Everest region.


In this season, TwinOtter aircraft of Tara Air has been making 10 to 15 daily flights from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap to Lukla in Solukhumbu.

Recently, with the increase in air traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), airlines have been flying to Lukla from Manthali in Ramechhap. Tara Air, Summit and Sita are also flying from this airport.


From TIA to Lukla, one plane could only make two to three flights per day. However, after starting to fly to Lukla from Manthali, a single plane has started to make eight to ten flights per day.


According to Tara Air spokesperson Sudarshan Bertaula, the same plane of Tara has been making five to eight flights daily from Manthali to Lukla. Currently, there are two Tara planes at Manthali Airport in Ramechhap.


"It has become easier for foreign tourists to come to Manthali from Kathmandu by vechicle in the morning and take a plane from Manthali to Lukla in the same day," he said.


Tara Air has been providing flight services not only from Manthali to Lukla, but also from Pokhara to Jomsom and Nepalgunj from Rara, Humla, Bajura, Jumla, Dolpa and other remote areas.
