Pathibhara cable car dispute: SC issues interim order to halt construction

Following an initial hearing on the writ petition filed by Yam Bahadur Limbu and others, the SC ordered that all proceedings be kept in the current state until a final decision is made on the interim order.

KATHMANDU, March 30: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a short-term interim order to maintain the status quo on the construction of the cable car and other related works in Pathibhara, Taplejung, directing the government and the construction company to halt any activities until further notice.


Following an initial hearing on the writ petition filed by Yam Bahadur Limbu and others, the SC ordered that all proceedings be kept in the current state until a final decision is made on the interim order.

In the writ petition seeking a temporary order to halt the construction of the Pathibhara cable car, a single bench of Justice Sharanga Subedi issued an interim order. The SC has also directed both parties to appear for a discussion on April 6.


Although the order was issued on March 26 in a writ petition filed by Limbu, it was made public only on Sunday. The order also instructs the opposing parties to submit a written response within 15 days.
