New civil servants to be enrolled under contribution-based social security scheme

The Ministry of Finance has issued a circular directing all ministries, regulatory bodies, public institutions, boards, committees, and establishments to make necessary arrangements for implementing the new system.

KATHMANDU, July 4: From the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26, all newly appointed government employees will be enrolled in a contribution-based social security system instead of receiving traditional pension and gratuity benefits.


The Ministry of Finance has issued a circular directing all ministries, regulatory bodies, public institutions, boards, committees, and establishments to make necessary arrangements for implementing the new system.

The ministry also clarified that the government will not bear any financial liability arising from the failure to implement the contribution-based scheme for new recruits.
