On the occasion, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav visited the Krishna temple at Patan and received Tika and Prasada from the priest after worshipping the Lord krishna.[break]
Thousands of devotees from the Kathmandu valley and other parts of the country thronged the Krishna temple since early morning to worship.
The visitors worship the Lord Krishna for 24 hours so as to mark his birth anniversary until 3 am Monday on the occasion, said Shambhu Bahari, a member of the Mangaltol Development Committee.
Nepal Scout, Red Cross Society, local clubs and different organizations have deployed around 900 volunteers to provide services to the devotees.
There is a huge crowd of followers of Radhe Radhe – a religious cult respecting Krishna consciousness – and other devotees to attend a three-day religious fair taking place at Shyama Shyama Dham in Thimi municipality, Bhaktapur.
A special program including religious fair, prayers and worships, talks and cultural program is taking place in Bhaktapur.
Devotees from neighboring India are also thronging the temples to celebrate the birthday of Hindu god Krishna.
Likewise, the Krishna temple in Bhaukhel has also witnessed an increasing number of devotees from early morning.
Locals of Dhansar in Sirutar VDC have also celebrated the special day by taking out religious procession with hymns.
Devotees spend the whole night chanting prayers and devotional songs and dancing.
