KATHMANDU, Nov 14: The recent floods and landslides brought on by heavy downpour in late September have caused physical damages worth of 1.69 billion in Makwanpur district.
According to the District Administration Office, a total loss of property of Rs 1.693 billion has been reported in the district. Dholakraj Dhakal, Assistant Chief District Officer, said that among the 10 municipalities in the district, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality suffered the most human and physical damage.
Likewise 134 houses have been completely damaged, while 183 houses have endured partial damage in 10 municipalities of the district. Dhakal said that 16 suspension bridges and 51 roads and 23,079 ropanis of crops were damaged in five municipalities. Additionally, 58 infrastructures including water and electricity have been damaged.

The flood and landslides resulted in the death of 10 individuals including six in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality of the district, followed by two in Manhari Rural Municipality, one in Makwanpurgadhi and one in Bagmati Rural Municipality.
Similarly, the calamities have left six injured including two from Thaha Municipality and one person each from Bhimphedi Rural Municipality, Makwanpurgadhi Rural Municipality, Bakaiya Rural Municipality and Bagmati Rural Municipality.
