The appointments follow the dismissal of Kapil Acharya and Bhakta Bahadur Pun from their posts as NEA directors. On July 31, the Energy Minister had sought explanations from both directors regarding their lack of cooperation with directives related to the dedicated and trunk line dispute. Their responses were deemed unsatisfactory, leading to their dismissal on August 2.
