Dismissed NEA directors Pun and Acharya to challenge dismissal in court

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Bhakta Bahadur Pun and Kapil Acharya, who were dismissed from their positions of directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), have decided to appeal to the court.

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Bhakta Bahadur Pun and Kapil Acharya, who were dismissed from their positions of directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), have decided to appeal to the court. 


Dipak Khadka, Minister for Energy, Water Resources & Irrigation dismissed Pun and Acharya on Friday. Both Pun and Acharya were asked for a three-day explanation for not cooperating with the government on July 30. They had submitted their explanations on August 2. Stating that the explanations provided were unsatisfactory, Minister Khadka removed them from their positions of NEA directors on the same day.

Similarly, their tenure was set to end on December 17. Stating that they were dismissed from their posts before the end of their tenures, Pun and Acharya are holding legal consultations and are preparing to knock on the court’s doors. 


In the trunk and dedicated line case, Pun and Acharya had written notes of dissent on the decision taken by the NEA Boards of Directors  to reconnect power lines to six industries whose power supply was previously disconnected.


Former secretary Devendra Karki and former joint secretary Mahendra Bahadur Gurung have been appointed as the new directors of the NEA.
