Along with his more than two decades of career in the Nepali music industry, Satya Raj Acharya has efficiently morphed into an actor now. He debuted with the film ‘Acharya’, and further starred in films like ‘Karkash’, ‘Sadhe Saat’ and ‘Hairan’. He had entered the field of music with his first duo album ‘Lahure Dai’ teaming up with Swaroop Raj Acharya, in 1997. On the work front, he is gearing up for his upcoming US-Canada tour which will take place at the end of May.
In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Acharya revealed five things that many may not know about him.

Keen gazal writer
The art of writing is what has always fascinated him since his early childhood. He has tried his hands on writing and composing every genre of music, however, penning gazal is what has always caught his fancy. “While writing gazal, I try to make sure that I explore the uncommon subjects of writing. Lately,I have been working for my new gazal collection called ‘Sulemi’ and writing my father’s biography,” said Acharya.
Fond of watching Tom Hank’s movies
He usually watches movies from his recommended lists but when it comes to watching Tom Hank’s movies he ensures to watch it. Since he has been exploring cinema for himself, he is much enthusiast about watching Nepali movies and analyzing them and learning about the buzz going around in the Nepali film industry.
Into riding bike
He mostly travels through bike riding. To his memory, most of the places that he has so far visited are through riding bikes with his friends. “It has been long since I have gone on long bike rides due to my busy schedule. I have included Manang, Mustang, Annapurna Base Camp, Rara and many other places on my wish list that I hope to travel as soon as I manage to take out some time for holiday,” he added.
Football lover
Although tearing of his right-leg ligament stopped him from playing football, he rarely misses out on any match of his favorite football club Barcelona. He is also a fan of Argentina. The football craze takes such a hold on him that every time he watches his favorite team play, he dons the jersey of Argentina in order to support the team.
Fond of sketching
Pencil art was something that he started doing on his own since his early childhood. Although taken a long break from sketching, he hopes to continue with it in near future. “I think sketching runs in my blood as many of my family member are quite good at it and I also learned the skills without any formal classes,” he added.
