Inaugurating the office of the implementation unit established at the Office of Achham District Coordination Committee on Saturday, he said that the current government has accorded high priority to post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation works.

Stating that the earthquakes in Doti, Bajhang and Jajarkot districts caused loss of lives and property in recent years, he said it was unfortunate that the people could not get relief and rehabilitation for a long time.

Home Minister Lekhak said that the reconstruction, rehabilitation and repair work of the private houses that were completely damaged are currently progressing and claimed that the earthquake victims who have not received relief for a long time will soon receive the relief that they deserve. He also directed the Chief District Officer to provide funds without delay.

“The government has already committed to manage the budget,” he said, “If the beneficiaries are selected and the list of beneficiaries is sent from the local level on time, the amount will be available on time.”

An earthquake of 6.6 magnitude had hit Purbichowki Rural Municipality in Doti on November 9, 2022.
