ROLPA, July 10: After a decade of declaring relief package, the government has finally started distributing the last tranche of relief to the victims of the decade-long Maoist insurgency.
The conflict victims of Rolpa, the bastion of Maoist insurgency, are finally receiving the complete amount of the government-promised Rs 1 million. Rs 500,000 are being distributed in lump sum as the last trance of the relief.
A budget of Rs 530.7 million was released at the end of the last fiscal year, which the District Administration Office (DAO), Rolpa was finding it difficult to distribute.
“We have not been able to distribute the relief promptly due to limited manpower,” said Chief District Officer Dejan Bhattarai.
But lately, conflict victims have been thronging the DAO to receive the relief even at the peak of monsoon. A large queue could be seen outside the DAO to receive the relief. CDO Bhattarai believes that the relief would be distributed to all the victims within two days.
The number of deceased conflict victims has been registered to be 969 in Rolpa while 33 are missing.
