KATHMANDU, Sept 13: The chairman of the Health Insurance Board (HIB) Dr Gunaraj Lahoni submitted his resignation to Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel on Friday. The erstwhile CPN Maoist Center-led government had appointed him as the chairman of the board on November 29, 2023.

The board, under the leadership of Lohani, had demanded a lump-sum subsidy from the government stating that it does not have any money to pay the hospital premiums. According to a source at the ministry, he resigned from the post after the minister and the bureaucrats at the ministry were not positive about the matter.
