KATHMANDU, June 3: CPN-UML lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel has criticized the government stating that it has failed to understand the impact of fuel price hike being faced by the general public.

Taking part in the parliament meeting today, Pokharel said that the government was acting as if it did not see, hear and feel the people’s problems, despite the public suffering from the hike in fuel prices.

He also accused the government of lying that the prices of all commodities had risen by only seven percent. Stating that the main reason for all the inflation is the hike of fuel prices, Pokharel argued that the government's inability to manage it is a result of misgovernance and corruption.

He also expressed outrage that the government was trying to hand over the responsibility of distributing petroleum products to the private sector by taking a big commission and dismissing the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). Pokharel also urged the government to ensure corporate governance in NOC, adopt transparency and deliver petroleum products to the general consumers in an easy and accessible manner.
