In a press release, the union has stated  the government's repeated decision to increase the price of petroleum products has led the Nepali citizens to stop using their cooking stoves. According to the statement, “at a time when the whole country is suffering from the second wave of COVID-19, the government is operating according to the plans of corrupt people, brokers, and mafia instead of serving the people who are affected by diseases and hunger. As for our Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, instead of serving the citizens, he has become a leader for corrupt people and has disregarded our union’s protests against the hike in the prices of petroleum products.”

The union has also warned to take strong measures if the decision to hike the price of petroleum products is not withdrawn.
