Former King Shah to visit Jhapa today; 8,000 motorbikes to escort him

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah is going to Jhapa this afternoon for the unveiling of a statue of the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah is going to Jhapa this afternoon for the unveiling of a statue of the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of modern Nepal.


Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha informed  Republica that the former monarch is going to Jhapa for the unveiling of the late king’s statue, which was established at E-Com College, Birtamod.

RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden has been in Jhapa for 10 days to manage the former King’s visit. RPP Spokesperson Shrestha said that Lingden is managing and making preparations for the former King's program.


Former King Shah is scheduled to stay at Mechi Resort in Dhulabari. Tomorrow, a welcome march will start from Nimja River in Dhulabari. The former monarch is scheduled to participate in the march. RPP Spokesman Shrestha said that the march will be escorted by around 8,000 motorcycles and will be taken from Dhulabari to Birtamod.


There is also a program of Former King Shah to meet the general public by walking for 45 minutes in Birtamod. The organizer RPP claimed  that 50,000 people will participate in the program.
