RAUTAHAT, March 26: Rautahat police have arrested Umesh Prasad Sah, the operator of Aanand Neuro Acupuncture Clinic in Shivnagar, for defying Madhesh Province Chief Minister (CM) Satish Kumar Singh’s directive to shutter the hospital as it was found to be providing substandard services.
A team led by Sub-Inspector Bablu Kant Jha from the Area Police Office, Shivnagar, acting on the orders of Chief of the District Police Office (DPO), Rautahat, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilip Ghimire, arrested Sah from the hospital on Wednesday. SP Ghimire said that Sah was immediately sent to the DPO for further action.
Siraha Provincial Hospital ranked first in Madhesh

Two weeks ago, CM Singh had instructed Aanand Hospital to shut down after an inspection revealed that it was operating without meeting required standards. However, Sah ignored the directive and continued running the hospital without interruption.
According to regulations, existing patients should have been transferred to other hospitals for treatment at the hospital’s expense until proper standards were met. Eyewitnesses reported that Sah continued treating old patients at his facility while admitting new ones, allegedly exploiting them for financial gain.
For the past two decades, Sah has been running the unauthorized hospital, falsely claiming to treat paralysis and other conditions while allegedly scamming patients.
During his inspection, CM Singh ordered the immediate closure of around 15 hospitals in Shivnagar, Garuda, and Chandrapur that were operating without proper authorization.
