Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dipak Khadka, who also serves as the chairman of the NEA’s Board, stated that the decision aims to ease the financial burden on low-income consumers.

"This measure is meant to provide relief to those facing economic challenges," Minister Khadka said. "Customers who previously paid 30 rupees for the service charge will now pay only Rs 15."

Currently, households using up to 20 units of electricity were paying a monthly service charge of Rs 30.
